SPE was contracted by Bouygues E&S to carry out a concept development for a planned major upgrade to the Blenheim Palace Estates, as part of their planned zero carbon strategy.
SPE’s scope included developing an understanding of the whole sites existing infrastructure and potential DNO supply points, and then developing a strategy for integrating the solar PV, battery storage and private 11kV network into a single system, to allow the energy produced by the solar scheme to be stored in the battery system and used as a power arbitrage system to help balance power within the palace. SPE also developed various strategies for upgrading the internal 11kV and LV power system installed within the Palace basement and Orangery, in order to improve the system performance and eliminate the HV within the building.
Once the initial concept had been developed, SPE then created a preliminary model of the system in DIgSILENT Powerfactory, produced a series of single line diagrams, and an overall concept selection report, and then a subsequent project scope for potential ICPs and M&E installers.
