SPE was contracted by Edward Dewhurst Ltd, to carry out a protection study for a planned major refurbishment of the Barrow-in-Furness hospital.

SPE’s scope included organising a site survey for the existing protection devices, and equipment; reviewing the proposed SLDs to ensure that sufficient reliability was maintained in the emergency system, before creating a model of the whole electrical system in ETAP. Once the ETAP model was created, a number of different protection coordination cases were carried out for the normal and emergency operation cases.
