Stephen Sommerville is the Director of SPE Electrical, and has over 20 years of experience in HV and EHV power system analysis and design, gained from working in a number of different industries. Stephen is a specialist in power system studies and has experience of a wide range of packages such as DigSILENT, ETAP, SKM, EMTP-ATP, PSCAD & AMTECH. Stephen is also our resident earthing specialist and has Level 1 certification in CDEGS and XGSLab and has extensive experience in modelling complex HV and EHV earthing systems. When not running the business, or carrying out system studies, Stephen is actively pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering at Brunel University, in the field of grid scale power system stability.
Ross Falconer is a Consultant and Chartered Electrical Engineer with over 10 years’ experience working in the electrical power systems industry both in the United Kingdom and in New Zealand. He has experience of HV and EHV design and power system studies and simulation using DIgSILENT and IPSA as well as earthing studies using the CDEGS design suite. Ross is skilled in the design and analysis of high voltage electrical systems, including both primary plant and secondary protection & control systems.
Associate Senior Consultant
Sam is a specialist in power system protection and has over 13 years of direct experience in this field, gained from working in a number of different industries including T&D, industry and Rail. He has a detailed knowledge of ERACS, ETAP and DIgSILENT and has experience in writing protection device configuration files using tools such as DIGSI, MiCOM S1 Agile, Easergy Studio and ABB PCM600.
System Studies Engineer
Lee Milliken is a System Studies engineer with over 4 years experience in transmission and distribution and switchgear design. Lee is currently completing an MSc in power systems, and specializes in power system studies such as loadflow, short circuit, motor starting, protection studies and arc-flash analysis. Lee is familiar with ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory and Matlab/Simulink.
System Studies Engineer
Callum Brown is a System Studies engineer with over 3 years experience in the renewables and consulting industry. He has previously worked for a successful renewable energy developer and has worked on a variety of a variety of onshore wind farms and battery energy storage systems connected to the DNO and Scottish transmission network. Callum specializes in power system studies such as loadflow, short circuit, motor starting, protection Coordination and arc-flash analysis and is familiar with both ETAP and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
